The AAAO Alliance of Azerbaijani American Organizations (AAAO) is dedicated to uniting, empowering, and celebrating the Azerbaijani’s in America.

Through cultural exchange programs, language support, and collaborative initiatives, we aim to empower Azerbaijani Americans to thrive in their new environment while preserving their rich heritage. Our organization is committed to creating a supportive space that encourages cross-cultural understanding, strengthens community bonds, and provides essential resources for a successful integration journey in the diverse tapestry of American society.

Meet The People Dedicated to AAAO

Nargiz Aliyarova

President

Nargiz Aliyarova is an international concert pianist, professor, and cultural leader based in New York. She has performed in over 50 cities worldwide, with debut performances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center, and is a recipient of numerous international honors, including the title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan Republic. Nargiz is the Founder and President of the National Music & Global Culture Society and currently serves as the President of the Alliance of Azerbaijani-American Organizations, advancing cultural diplomacy through classical music and global artistic collaboration.

Samir Novruzov

Board Member

Samir Novruzov, a highly accomplished engineer and writer from Baku, Azerbaijan, serves as the president of the "United States-Azerbaijan Center of Integration." He aids new Azerbaijani immigrants in Houston, Texas, facilitating their integration into American life. He provides guidance, resources, and community support to newcomers, fostering a sense of belonging and integration.

Adika Iqbal

Vice President

Adika Iqbal, PhD, PE, PMP is a transportation engineering leader and community advocate. She leads statewide traffic management, highway safety analytics, and intelligent transportation systems initiatives for the North Carolina Department of Transportation through AtkinsRéalis. Adika is also the Founder and President of the Azerbaijan Friendship Organization, where she focuses on cultural diplomacy, community engagement, and strengthening diaspora connections through public service.

Tarlan Ahmadov

Board Member

An Azerbaijani-American, alongside his wife, made their home in Maine in 2003. Now, as a board member of the Alliance of Azerbaijani American Organizations, his mission is to champion Azerbaijani culture, strengthen community ties to their homeland, and foster collaboration among diverse groups. For him, community service is a sacred duty, driven by a commitment to social improvement.

Nigar ShikhSafiyeva

Secretary

Nigar ShikhSafiyeva serves as the Secretary of AAAO (Alliance of Azerbaijani American Organizations) and is the Founder of the Azerbaijani Diaspora Organization of Colorado. She holds degrees in Mechanics and Mathematics from Baku State University and International Law from Nakhchivan State University. A journalist accredited at the White House and the United Nations, Nigar is actively engaged in public relations, media, and community leadership, with a strong focus on diaspora development and international affairs.

Nigar Ibrahimova

Executive Director

Nigar Ibrahimova serves as the Executive Director of the Azerbaijan–America Organizations Alliance (AAOA). A seasoned program leader and diaspora advocate with over a decade of experience, she has worked in executive roles with organizations such as the American Red Cross, CARITAS Germany, and Lutheran Social Services. Nigar is a recipient of the Government of Azerbaijan’s Medal “For Service in Diaspora Activity” and is dedicated to strengthening Azerbaijani unity, cultural identity, and national representation across the United States.

Nurlan Shukurlu

Treasurer

Nurlan Shukurlu serves as the Treasurer of AAAO (Alliance of American Azerbaijani Organizations) and is the President of the Azerbaijan Cultural Society of Northern California (ACSNC). A Silicon Valley–based professional originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, he has led ACSNC since 2025, expanding its cultural and educational programs and representing Azerbaijan at major international festivals across North America. Nurlan is actively involved in youth initiatives, community leadership, and the promotion of Azerbaijani culture, arts, and intellectual engagement in the United States.
